Friends’ secondary school - Shamakhokho was first registered on 2nd February 1979
under the sponsorship of the yearly meeting of friends. It went out of operation in 1980. The school remained in this state not until 1989 when concerted efforts were
made to revive it but also collapsed in 1991 after just two years of being in operation.
Towards the end of 2001 stakeholders from the local community set up an interim
committee to spearhead the reopening of the institution to run its affairs, under the
chairmanship of Mr. Mathias Iravonga and the sponsorship of Mr. Shem. M. Isigi. The
committee held office until 6th June 2003 when the schools board of governors (B.O.G)
was appointed.
